About Acoustic Philly
ACOUSTIC PHILLY is a cooperative of acoustic, folk and indie performers who play in the bars, lounges, clubs, cafes and open mikes of the Philadelphia area. The clubs supporting the initiative are The Lickety Split, The Raven Lounge, Tritone, The Dive, The Fire, Azure, Fergie’s Pub, Ground Floor, The El Bar, Dawson Street Pub, New Deck Tavern, Dowling’s Palace, Crazy Fish Saloon, World Cafe Live, Doc Watson’s, Richie’s Bar & Grill, Grape Street, MilkBoy, Stevenson’s, Rocket Cat Cafe, Kaffa Crossing, Cedar Hollow Inn, KC’s Alley, The Coffee Club and other venues. The mission of the group is to a) present talents in showcases at participating venues; and, b) promote these acts via all available means: over the Internet, by issuing “plugs” at shows, via printed media and by simply initiating more interaction between performers and clubs in the movement to promote acoustic music in the region as a genre that is on the threshold of a boom. Moreover, participants throw bones to performers as much as we can (knowledge of clubs who need acoustic acts). Much of our outreach occurs at the lounges, The Lickety Split and The Dive, The Fire, The Ground Floor and Azure, hives of acoustic performers in the city. Additionally, Acoustic Philly promotes musicians on AcousticPhilly.com, a new Web Site. There is no reason why Philly should ever be considered a “stopover city” or a “second city” by any musician.
