Your entrance on this episode was fashionably late, but I'm guessing the shout out was for me. Thanks! We have a nice little mutual admiration thing going on here. :-)

So, let me see if I have this right: The name of your Podcast is "Acoustic Philly" but you play music that isn't necessarily acoustic and not necessarily from Philadelphia - is that right? Sounds perfect.

Then there is the other news flash that Rebecca could have been the daughter of Bob Dylan. Now THAT would have proved interesting. You guys crack me up.

Have a lovely Thanksgiving

Cheers,
Paul the music lover

WOW you guys, Wow. I enjoyed getting to know the band. I didn't know, for example, that Rebecca's desire to be in a band would serve as the start for Ellis Reed. You guys have something very special and it was fun learning how. Then there was the technical production - WOW. Was that really live? Incredible. The length of the show was just right too. I wanted just a tiny bit more. :-) Awesome job, guys.

Neall just filled me in on this podcast. Pretty cool! For those listening, I work with Neall and have been listening to him create his first album over the summer. I know he had a lot of fun for him to produce the album which I think deserves a good listening as it's a very strong set of tracks on the cd. Neall shows off his different styles throughout his CD as well. If you like 6am and One My Own, you should visit Neall's site for a listen to the rest of the cd and if you enjoy it enough, please purchase it. I'm sure he'd like that!

Oh ya (checking your IDs). I remember you people. Welcome back! It *is* difficult doing a weekly over the summer, isn't it? I'm thinking next summer I might go every-other. We'll see. Oh, and I play Neall (with two L's) in a week and a half I think. Take care!! ~Paul

Hey Rebecca and Steve -- Thanks for the shout out on the show. You played a couple of my favorites this time. Red Heart the Ticker, who I had the honor of meeting as they toured the left coast, and Mark Rice, who I have also played on Indie Music Sampler. I'm thinking I will need to queue up Unlikely Cowboy for an upcoming show. Oh, and yes, I did play this Ellis Reed band at one time as well. (hee hee) Little did I know that playing them would lead to nice friendships and to such great music! I really appreciate you guys. ~Paul the music lover

Kurt, I love that version of White Trash Sons. You hardly ever play it like that, but it's a nice up tempo change from the slow one. Also, I like that song Not Gonna Tell. It's a good part of a relationship that doesn't have many songs that relate it. Good job. I'm proud to know you.

Get out mah face. Ya nahsty.

Kurt, I love that version of White Trash Sons. You hardly ever play it like that, but it’s a nice up tempo change from the slow one. Also, I like that song Not Gonna Tell. It’s a good part of a relationship that doesn’t have many songs that relate it. Good job. I’m proud to know you.

Wonderful show! Great music and super variety. In addition to the music, we hear from Elle (the flea-ridden dog) and Steve on (obviously fermented) apple juice. Life just doesn't get any better.

Josh Larson: you legend!

Your songs are beautiful and your attitude about trying to write things apart from your heartstrings is something I think that challenges many musicians and writers, myself especially included in that subset. Ideas aren't all that easy to come by, but when you (or me) do manage to find some we should make a huge effort to get them down on paper or recorded somewhere so as not to lose them.

I wanna hear the song about playing cards with the devil...

Hey Kelan!! Yes in my opinion anyone with a synth wah flourish (in a rock song setting) is doomed to sound a little like yes. Even if they did not do it first, they did it large. In the same way that anyone who does a finger tapping guitar solo is destined to bring Van Halen to mind. Thanks for bringing the sea and cake to my reality. I heard some songs today and hopefully we will be able to have one of their songs on a future podcast. They have a great sound.

Wow you two! I was able to have a listen earlier this evening - thank you for producing a really neat half-hour there - I think you were especially kind and am absolutely grateful for the wonderful and unexpected support you gave - witty, tender and freeekin' cool :0)

Can I run a feed from my page too? I have a mate's band's streamcast there on a blog page and would like to either do that or hyperlink to your podbean site. For right now I will just add a link (obviously I would like people to hear your entire podcast if possible).

really enjoyed the talent you chose - haven't anything critical to say so what damn use am I!!! haha :D

Hi Brendan!!!!

What a surprise, and a lovely one at that!!!! It was me (Rebecca) who wondered about the lyrics and that is mostly because I write them all for "Ellis Reed" and they are very personal, so it's a really subjective question. Joni Mitchell once said that writing was "hanging my clothes on the line." For me it's the same, but they are pretty dirty clothes still......Feel free to write to us at: ellisreed@msn.com and you can see our site at: www.ellisreed.com.

My sister-in-law just moved to Australia for good......

let us know if you have a site for you music as wel
all my best,
Rebecca (and Steve!!!)

G'day guys!

I'm so glad you put another podcast up today! I'm downloading it now so I cannot comment on it, but I wanted to communicate with you and couldn't find a way until now.

In 2000 I visited the US for 4-and-a-half months and was pretty much on the move most of the time. At one stage I spent a couple of weeks with friends in Cherry Hill NJ and spent a fair bit of time in Philly wandering around and exploring. My favourite place was the Museum of Art and was fascinated by all the historical stuff. I touched 29 states (I think) during my visit, and Philly was one of my favourite places of all. No lie.

Anyway, music is really important to me, and I am a big fan of the folk/country/troubadour style of storytelling songs, and having just gotten an ipod and getting into podcasts, when I saw yours I had to try it! And I am in no way disappointed. Hahaha I wish I could have known about you guys back in 2000 so I could've seen and heard some excellent live acts...

So, provided my computer keeps working, you have an ongoing listener from Bendigo, Victoria, Australia. Keep up the good work, and please play some more of your own stuff too!

Brendan

p.s. Having listened to all 6 of the previous episodes in one day at work, I cannot remember which one it was, but you mentioned about whether people care about lyrics...good music is good music regardless, but I am interested in it meaning something, not just so it can be good in the background. As one who writes a little, the lyrics are ALWAYS important to me. And especially coming from an "acoustic" perception, I was surprised that you would even think that Steve! Shame on you...hahaha.
